ATHLETIC PROGRAMS

PMA has been able to offer several after-school sports programs for its students. The following programs were offered last year or in the recent past and we hope to duplicate them in 2007-2008.

Each year the programs offered to the students depend on the number and type of volunteers who step forward to help. For example soccer was offered in 1999 but not since. Please contact the office or physical education department if you are interested in starting a new program or helping with any existing ones.

2007-08 ATHLETIC FEES

In an effort to simplify the way paperwork and funds are collected for sports at PMA, an all-inclusive participation form has been created along with a medical questionnaire and an athletic fee policy. If your child is interested in participating in a sports program, please fill out a participation form and medical questionnaire for each athlete, indicating which sports programs that they will be participating in for the 2007-2008 school year. The athletic fee is meant to replace the money that would normally be given for coaches gifts, CYO insurance fees, state meet fees, and criminal background checks for volunteers. The major expense of gym rental, league fees, and equipment needs for the gym and playground will still be paid for through the golf tournament proceeds.

The fees will be as follows and must be paid for each athlete unless they have a family member who is acting as coach for one of our sports programs. One fee covers all sports participation for the year.

  • Interscholastic Sports (involving multiple games, meets, or competitions against other schools or parishes) - $50 fee

    CYO Basketball, CYO Cheerleading, Cross Country 5th-8th, Track and Field

  • Intramural Sports (involving once a week practices at PMA only) - $25.00 fee

    Instructional basketball, instructional softball, instructional baseball, and 4th grade and under cross country

All students taking part in any of the after-school sports programs must fill out the After School Sports Program Permission Slip and Medical Questionnaire.

PARENT-STUDENT ATHLETIC AGREEMENT

Taking part in any of the PMA Athletic programs involves representing PMA out in the community, and with this representation comes certain responsibilities. Therefore the administration and athletic department would like to clarify their expectations of the participants in these programs. All athletes and parents must read and sign the Parent-Student Athletic Agreement to acknowledge receipt and understanding of these standards and agree to abide by them.
