GUIDANCE COUNSELING VISION STATEMENT
The Presentation of Mary Academy Guidance Counseling Program, in collaboration with faculty, parents, and the community will help to
prepare students to become effective learners and acquire the knowledge, skills, and moral and spiritual values for success in school and throughout life. The program will support all students in the areas of academic, career, personal/social and faith development
Presentation of Mary Academy recognizes the sensitive nature of the student/counselor interaction with respect to keeping parents informed at all times. The counselor shall actively maintain an open line of communication with parents whenever student-related issues or concerns required student/counselor intervention.
The Guidance Counseling Program at PMA provides a variety of services and assistance to both students and parents. These services are:
- providing confidential personal and academic counseling;
- providing support and serving as liaison between the principal, teachers,
and parents;
- utilizing conflict resolution strategies, peer relationship support, behavioral and organizational management techniques.
- coordinating support programs for students and parents;
- co-facilitating the standardized testing program and test interpretation;
- accessing community resources;
- serving as school liaison to facilitate the process of special education screening and services;
- presenting various courses such as study skills and special interest groups as the needs arise;
- acting as a resource to the school administration and staff, students,
and parents to assist in matters relating to the social climate of the
school community.
