PARENT GROUP END OF YEAR SUMMARY

Another Great year at PMA hasflown by. We have had an exciting and productive year and the following is a summary of the events that the parent group planned throughout the year. I'd like to thank especially Patty Sherburne for her dedication and her creative mind that never stops working!!

SEPTEMBER

  • 14th Annual Fall Fun Fest raised approx. $14,000

OCTOBER

  • Pumpkin Stroll over 400 people and over 150 pumpkins on display

NOVEMBER

  • Book Bingo raised $780 for the Technology Fun
  • Burger King Night raised over $500

DECEMBER

  • Feast of St. Nicholas
  • Roller Kingdom Night
  • Chuck E Cheese Family Night

JANUARY

  • Pre-K Dinosaur Enrichment
  • Chuck E Cheese Family Night
  • Family Feud Night
  • Mancester Monarch game - PMA Choir performed
  • Dad's Night Out at Boston Billiards

FEBRUARY

  • Catholic Schools Week - all students enjoyed donuts and staff enjoyed breakfast
  • 4th Annual Bakery Bingo - Sold out!
  • 4th Annual Father Daughter Dance with over 200 people attending
  • Roller Kingdom Night
  • Chuck E Cheese Family Night
  • In-House Enrichment of Steve Blunt for PreK - 1st Grade, Cryo State of Matter Gr. 3-5, Motion Speed Gr. 6-8

MARCH

  • Mother and Son Game Night - 82 people enjoyed a spaghetti dinner
  • Slim Goodbody's Health for Gr. K-3
  • Family Night at McDonalds

APRIL

  • Egg Crack'n Day was a HUGE success - over 3200 eggs sold!
  • Mom's Night Out

  • Wall of Hope Tiles
  • Built our beautiful new playground, the Playground of Hope

June

  • 8th Grade Dinner/Dance
  • 8th Grade Graduation
  • Fisher Cats baseball game with the PMA Choir singing
  • Nightlife Benefit for the Zachary Tompkins Scholarship Program

PURPOSE

The purpose of the PMA Parent Group is to raise funds which provide services for the school, which otherwise would not be provided, in order to enhance the education of the children


GOAL

Our goals are to create strong school spirit through activities and programs. We help make the learning experience an enjoyable and rewarding one for PMA children.

OBJECTIVE

Our objectives include the planning, scheduling and implementation of social and fundraising activities for the Academic year. Check the event calendar for upcoming events.


MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to all parents interested in supporting and/or participating in the implementation of the group's purpose, goals and objectives through meetings and activities. Membership is also open to past parents and to all individuals who desire to help this group meet its purpose.


MEETINGS

Meetings are being held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in the school Cafeteria. See the Meeting Minutes page for minutes from our latest meeting.


COMMITTEES

  • Octoberfest - This commitee is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all the subcommitees for Family Fun Fest
  • Hospitality Commitee - This commitee is responsible for coordinating special events for the school. These events include:
    • Santa in his classroom visits and coordinating the Pizza lunch at Christmastime
    • Planning and coordinating the teacher/staff appreciation day during Catholic School Week
    • Reception after 8th grade graduation
  • Social - This commitee is responsible for scheduling social functions for parents and children. These events include:
    • Roller Skating
    • Annual Spaghetti Dinner
    • Ice Cream Social
  • Enrichment - This commitee is responsible for organizing and coordinating the educational field trips, as well as in-house enrichment programs
  • Volunteer - This commitee is responsible for coordinating volunteers for Parent Group sponsored events.

PROGRAMS SUPPORTED BY THE PARENT GROUP

  • Box Tops For Education: Coordinator: Ann McCarthy - The chair is responsible for collecting and coordinating the submission of box tops.
  • Campbell Soup Labels: Coordinator: Connie Sousa - The coordinator is responsible for collecting and coordinating the submission of labels. The labels earn points that are redeemed for equipment for the school.
